Feed the Children

 By Jackie Cular

Feed the Children’s vision is “No child or family goes to bed hungry,” and since 1979 they have been doing their best to feed the world’s most needy. FTC is a non-profit organization based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma that helps families and individuals by bringing food, clothing, medicine, and other necessities. This group specifically focuses on helping those affected by war, poverty, famine, and natural disasters.

Feed the Children begins by collecting donations from across the country and bringing to their six distribution centers. Donations are boxed and delivered to shelters, churches, and other organizations all over the nation. The organization does more than deliver food. They have also handed out “over 75,000 backpacks—loaded with assorted children’s books, school supplies, food, and personal care items” according to their website.

Internationally, Feed the Children delivers supplies in attempts to create a sustainable environment throughout areas in peril.  The organization doesn’t simply want to make a delivery and leave; they want to help create self-sufficient people and communities. FTC achieves this time and time again with the help of grants and individual donations. The money has helped the organization provide education in order to teach skills to those they help.

An individual’s donation may seem small, but could actually make a huge difference. There are lots of ways one person can help Feed the Children.

Americans Feeding American Caravan—This year, Feed the Children would like to help over 320,000 families by the end of the year.

Education Supplies to Children in Need—Feed the Children uses donations to bring school supplies to needy children all across the U.S.

Kids Stuff USA—Donate to build a Kid’s Stuff Shoe Box.

Disaster Relief—When a hurricane, flood, tornado, earthquake, or conflict occurs, Feed the Children delivers resources across the U.S. or around the world.

Car donation—The organization uses car donations to raise money for more supplies. Donations of cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, RVs, and more are accepted and are tax deductible.

Sponsor a child—Donate to be a monthly sponsor to help make a difference as well as a personal connection with a child in need.
