The Cutting Edge Culture: “You just wrapped up recording in Baltimore, what’s the title of the EP?”
Buddy Nielsen
: “It’s not really a title it’s just going to be a couple of new songs, I guess. People seem to like them a whole lot. And we put them on there because the fans really seemed to like them.”

TCEC: “When can fans expect it?”
BN
: “The second week of June, over the last couple months some new songs were written.”

TCEC: “The last time we talked, you spoke of going on a break. How was this helpful?”
BN
: “Oh yeah but it was for everybody. People in the band had a variety of things to do not really for the creative side. But yeah it really helps to step away for a second.”

TCEC: “What did you do?”
BN
: “Oh I was just working for a label and doing some music with some bands.”

TCEC: “Do you have plans to tour?”
BN
: “Yeah we are doing warped tour. We are going to tour and then make a new record. We are going to head back to Baltimore to do some more recording.”

TCEC
: “Do you have plans to make a music video? What role do you feel social media plays?”
BN
: “Not that much, I post stuff on it just because that s just the way it works right now. It really just depends on the goal of your band. A lot of people know that we have our own identity. People know about us and about our personalities and over all identities like me and what. I feel like when you’re starting out and in identity for the band it’s pretty helpful. But once you have been in a band for 10 years you’re less concerned about building that up. The social media is more about keeping people posted. I’m always hanging out with people at the show; I never really talk to people on line. I don’t really like talking to people on line. I don’t really see the point of it, I don’t really connect with people and it’s not as personal.”

TCEC: “Why bother when MTV is dead?”
BN
: “There is a purpose to have a visual aspect of your music. People like to listen to music on YouTube, so it plays a role in how they perceive your band. But you just can’t spend the kind of money on it that people use to because it’s just going to be put in the back of the internet rather than having a focus channel. Or just picking a place to a place where people watch videos. It’s hard to make a really good video with not a lot of money. Now you come up with a great idea for i video and it’s still going to cost a lot of money. The art form is dying, if you’re a music video director, who are you? And why are you doing it. There is not a large underground business for music video directors; it cost a lot of money to make it.”

Senses Fail will be tour out west in June. Go to the band’s website for more information.
